How to Apply Lemon to Your Skin
After going through the many benefits of lemons for your skin and body, you should know how to properly use them on your skin. There are several methods that you can use- some require mixing with other ingredients- but they produce great benefits for your skin and can help you gain a lighter brighter complexion. Read on to learn more about how to apply lemon to your skin.

Lemon and Baking Soda

A popular method for applying lemon to your skin for lightening purposes is to make it into a paste along with baking soda. We’ve covered baking soda and the many different results it can bring based on the person, but baking soda is generally a great base for any paste or mixture, so using it to apply an ingredient on your skin can help keep the mixture in place.

Start by either using lemon juice or a freshly squeezed lemon. For better results, a fresh lemon would be more beneficial, but if you don’t one then you can use already made juice. Next, mix about ½ cup of baking soda with the lemon juice- turning it into a soft paste. If you notice the mixture becoming too watery, then be sure to add more baking soda until the mix is ready.

To enhance your mixture, you can add in a few drops of essential oils to even further benefit your skin. Now your paste is ready to use. Apply a small amount of the lemon and baking soda to your skin on the areas that are dark, discolored, have spots or marks, or that are affected by hyperpigmentation. Rub the mixture in and then leave it on your skin for a few minutes. Then you can wash it off and repeat this process daily. Note that if you have sensitive skin, be careful of leaving the mixture on your skin for too long, as it may cause irritation.

Lemon and Honey

Another way to lighten your skin with lemon is by combining it with another beneficial ingredient like honey. Honey is known for more than just lightening, like moisturizing and cleansing, and works great mixed with lemon. Similar to the baking soda mixture, all you need to do is combine the two together in equal parts, like a teaspoon of honey with a teaspoon of lemon, and add a base like baking soda or milk powder. Apply it on your skin and remove after about 10 minutes. Be sure to use cold water when washing it off.

Lemon Alone!

Lastly, you can always use lemon juice alone to lighten your skin. For sensitive skin, testing this on your skin beforehand is important, but generally, lemon juice can sit directly on your skin- even overnight! Simply squeeze a lemon to make lemon juice and use a cotton ball to dab a small amount onto your skin in the damaged areas. Leave it on overnight and in the morning you can wash it off. Using this method daily can lighten your skin from the damaged areas and restore your natural skin color!
